Changes Brought About by CST…

  • Air conditioning at group homes, Norristown State Hospital.
  • Environmental changes such as new carpeting, TVs, furniture, bedding, painting.
  • Expansion of activities in the community.
  • Arrangements made for customers of services to participate in county meetings, such as the Community Support Program (CSP) local and regional , the Mental Health Committee, The Pa. Mental Health Consumers Conference (PMHCA) CSP conferences.
  • Establishing peer run moving services.
  • Developing a sensitivity training DVD by and for staff.
  • Contracting with a driving school to help consumers get their driver license.
  • Establishing more welcoming environments at in-patient hospitals.
  • Contributing to customers being treated with respect and dignity.
  • Providing job opportunities at CST for customers, homeless people.
  • Establishing a self-help advocacy affiliate with customer and family member staff, and development of a Forensic Advocate position.
  • Developing a trust relationship with customers and partnership with providers and the County office.
  • Establishing a social enterprise called HopeMarket which contributes to empowerment, choice and opportunity.
