We have grown

HopeWorx was founded in 1994 as an independent 501c3 nonprofit called the Consumer Satisfaction Team of Montgomery County and funded by the Montgomery County Department of Behavioral Health/Developmental Disabilities (MCBH/DD) to ensure people receiving mental health services were satisfied with the services they were receiving.  People with lived experience in the Montgomery County mental health system were recruited to create and implement satisfaction surveys.

At that time, the entire organization consisted of one full time person and a handful of part time people, who completed two survey projects per year. As the years grew, so did the organization, steadily building additional peer programs to support Montgomery County Individuals.  Now, 30 years later, the HopeWorx organization houses six teams, who impact over 2000 people in Montgomery County each year. The teams conduct satisfaction surveys for families, youth, and adults.  They provide one on one peer and self-advocacy support to individuals, as well as families whose children are navigating the child serving systems. They provide emergency resources including food, clothing and laundry, and have built a local community with opportunities for learning new skills, meeting new friends, and starting new career paths.  Throughout the years, HopeWorx has remained committed to crafting an intentional space where peer values and peer support are the essential fiber of our community. We walk alongside others, sharing our own stories of hope, to help everyone we serve feel safe, seen, and heard.
