Kristen Wenrich
Family Peer Support Partner
Kristen is a proud wife and mom of two children that love being on stage. She graduated from Millersville University with a dual degree in elementary education as well as special education. She fell in love with her husband quickly after graduating from college and they have been married for over 19 years.
She has taught 5th graders through 12th graders but always found herself encouraging parents and children to advocate for themselves. Kristen had her son in 2010 with some issues, but her daughter’s birth in 2013 led to a nine-month hospitalization.
It was difficult emotionally, physically, and financially. During this time, Kristen found her voice – questioned choices, researched solutions, and found families with similar experiences to help navigate the rollercoaster of a life with her daughter and family.
The rollercoaster continues as her husband and Kristen navigate getting what her daughter needs – medically and educationally. Her son’s development had been impacted by having a sibling who had special needs. This led Kristen and her husband to navigate the educational world to give him the support he needed.
When Kristen heard of the opportunity of being a peer family support partner, she couldn’t have dreamt of a more perfect opportunity. With her experience and educational background, she had already helped families of her child(ren)’s friends and others find their voice and help their child(ren) become successful.
She looks forward to helping those families in the community find what they need. In her free time, Kristen loves attending her church, spending time with her family, watching hockey games, especially Hershey Bears, and she finds nothing more calming than petting her purring cat.
