Growing Impact Through Grant Partnerships
Grant partnerships have helped HopeWorx expand its reach, strengthen support for youth and families, and create new opportunties for community engagement. Over the past several years, funding from local and federal partners have supported our work.
Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Suicide Prevention Grant
HopeWorx’s family teams received $62,200 through the Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Suicide Prevention Grant to support suicide prevention work in collaboration with Thomas Jefferson University and the Pennsylvania Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS). The grant spans two years, with the opportunity for annual renewal for three additional years.
Grant-funded work has included needs assessments and family peer support and support group initiatives, as well as the “You’re Not Alone” film project. The project features parents and caregivers of youth who have experienced suicidal ideation or who have lost a child to suicide, creating resources intended to help families in similar circumstances feel less isolated, more connected, and hopeful about recovery and resiliency.
Drug & Alcohol Mini Grants
HopeWorx’s family teams were awarded three mini grants through the Montgomery County Drug & Alcohol Community Prevention Program, an initiative of the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Drug & Alcohol and coordinated through Family Services of Montgomery County.
Focused on promoting positive mental health among youth and/or preventing youth substance use, the grants supported three family-friendly events: Family Bingo, Family Baking, and a Creative Arts Clay Sculpting event. Families were also connected with drug and alcohol resources, and feedback gathered following the events found that participating families considered both the events and resources helpful.
VNA Foundation Spring Cycle Grants
HopeWorx’s family teams have maintained a longstanding partnership with the VNA Foundation, with 2025 marking the ninth consecutive year of collaboration. The Spring Cycle grants have support HopeWorx’s efforts to expand community engagement and enhance support for families.
In 2025, HopeWorx received $3,500 to translate C/FST behavioral health satisfaction surveys into Spanish. In 2026, an additional $10,000 was awared to continue Spanish translation efforts, support a transition-age youth parent peer pilot, and expand training opportunities for families on social topics and populations.
VNA Foundation Staff Retention Grant
HopeWorx’s family teams received a two-year VNA Foundation Staff Retention Grant totaling $30,000 to support the expansion and retention of staff.
VNA capacity-building funding has also supported efforts to expand a part-time C/FST Interviewer position into a full-time role with components of youth peer support. This work includes engaging youth and transition-aged youth through targeted focus groups to better understand their perspectives on behavioral health services and identify opportunities for youth voices to inform future work.
